i have recently acquired 7 1" red bellys and i was wondering how long i can keep them in my 55 gallon tank before i need to go pick up my 180 gallon tank, my 55 is setup with 50 basic goldfish and 2 Hypostomus plecostomus, a fair amount of fake plants and nice structure.

Let me be the first to welcome you to MFK.

You'll be able to tell when the tank gets too small. Your goldfish will lose their fins and body parts, including their lives. Wild guess would be when they're 4'', in a few months. You could start cycling the big tank at some point.

Please be aware that you'll also lose some piranhas along the way, which might be alleviated by the sacrifice the goldfish are about to make.

Good luck, please keep us posted.

I would also add a few similar sized silver dollars as dithers, this helps decrease mortality/ cannibalism in piranhas

I d
I don't follow what you mean here
hes saying if you add silver dollars the chance of cannibalism between your RBP's will be diminished but I just feel like the silver dollars will go first and then the cannibalism will begin.

And do I feed the piranhas basic gold fish or will it hurt them I have 50 basics that's why I ask Or what do you guys recommend for food
