I did post this in the breeding section, but thought i may have more luck at an answer here.

Me and my BF purchased a red bellied piranha today, since getting home iv relised there is a jelly like ball with a white 'thing' in the middle, sitting on the substrate. Im not sure if this was in the bag with the piranha when we got it or if its recently been layed or pooped.

The thing is, being a complete newbie to piranhas, im not sure if this is an egg or just poop:ROFL:as im not sure what either look like.

Anyone got any advice? Thanks.

pics would help to give you a definite answer, but to me it sounds more like the white film that surrounds a piece of leftover food or waste thats been left in a tank

Thanks for replying, i would take pic but cam is broke :(
i see what you mean. The 'jelly' is quite thick though, and the white thingie is very small in comparason and its a perfect ball. Interesting if it is waste, so should i just leave it in?
