If I been feeding thes fish dried bloodworms. how do i get them to start eating goldfish......I want them to be more aggressive... :naughty:

What size are they?
Feeding gold fish to them is a bad idea, one they are not very nutrional at all, and two they can introduce disease to your piranhas. Generally speaking reds will get more "aggressive" after they hit a certain size, or if you work with them now, getting them used to you being around the tank etc. of course if they are at a smaller size. I hope that helps.

Start with small fish and let the RBPs get hungry first for a couple days, don't overdo it or they will eat each other.
Try to avoid a steady diet of gold fish and when using feeders it is a good idea to get a couple sponge filters and plastic 20g storage tubs to keep a couple weeks worth of feeders in a salt water solution, canning salt or aquarium salt works, 2 teaspoons per gallon of water for 2 weeks before using to prevent introducing flukes and ich, etc, feed the feeders high quality food. Shiners and bait minnows are a better choice than gold fish.

thank you....i got 12 of them...3 of them are like 2.5 inches and the rest about an inch...Thanks for the help...... I heard rosy reds are good source of food?

They are better than goldfish, about the same as guppys I think, not as good as mollies. If you have a place to salt quarantine them just go down to a small creek or pond and net out a load of gambusia mosquito fish, as good as guppys and unlikely to have elevated copper levels as well as free, your Rpbs will prefer that size for now anyway. By feeding the guppys, etc tropical color flakes and spirolina flake you load them with color enhancers and vitamins, your reds will also enjoy live small crickets and glass shrimp.

just leave a goldfish in the tank with them, they will eventually get to it when they learn. also goldfish arent healthy for piranhas and can stunt their growth as well as they arent very nutritious coming from the farms they are raised on very low quality food so they dont do anything nutrition wise for your red bellies!

dont feed them goldfish. if u want to feed them live fish, raise your own. or u can catch your own.

any diff betw feeding life feeders and food such as pellets or market prawns....?

at that size i wouldnt suggest trying to ween them off of feeders just yet because at that stage in their life they are in a cannibalistic stage and will most likely eat each other if they get to hungry....now as far as feeders go dont use goldfish or rosy reds they both contain a chemical called thiamese inside of them which will slow down your piranhas growth and at that size they need to maintain their regular growth pattern....also guppies are a great feeder just dont get them from some junky lfs go to one where there are no dead feeders in the tank they all look healthy and things like that.....when you get to 3-4" in mark the best way to feed them is to start them off with raw shrimp or prawn starve them out for a couple weeks when they get to that size and then toss a piece of shrimp in an let it stay in their over night....i take the shell off because mine dont like it but u can try whatever works for you.....toss a piece in now inbetween feedings to see if they will take it but dont force it...also an alternative to feeders for right now might be bloodworms when mine were small they took to bloodworms right away
