I have a 6 inch Oscar and I just ordered 12 Red Bellied Piranhas at 1 inch each. I am afraid that my oscar will eat all the pirnhas when they get in though. What should I do. by the way 55 gallon tank. Thanks

Your going to need a WAY bigger tank. Those piranhas will beat up the poor oscar in that tank. Your looking at over 200 gallons man. Unless the oscar eats them first. Whatever happens, they're not going to co-exist happily in a small tank like that. :)

okay thanks what about just 12 red bellies in a 55 gallon? just wondering i would never get rid of my oscar

Nope. For twelve, aim for a LOT more. Your going to end up with twelve, foot long, aggressive fish. You'll need a HUGE tank. Check out the piranha forum.

I know we already told you that the 55 was not nearly big enough for the 12 piranhas. You didn't even mention the Oscar. :wall:

Red bellies at that size will be dinner to your oscar depending on it's size. and as has been said a 55 is waaaaay too small for 12.

say bye bye to that oscar. and about 1/2 of those rbp's will eventually die from aggression by being kept in a cramped tank and not enough space. can u get rid of most of those rbp's? or get a bigger tank (like at least 200 gal)? if i were you id sell them all to your lfs including the oscar, and get something that will work with a 55 gal tank..
