as long as the foot print is more wide and long then tall:thumbsup:

I wouldn't do it, just seems to small for me. If you want small I would say at least go with a 20gl long.

there is no way your rbp hit 8" in one yr.. what size was he when you got it? 7"

i have a few rbp and they never move.. only to feed.. they dont need that big of a space.. and i have a few 15's where the foot prints are as wide as a 29 just not as long.. like i said it depends on the footprints of his tank

i dont see how its not possible?
the AVERAGE growth rate, meaning not perfect water parameters/water changes, is 1 inch a month, up until they are around 6'' mark.

so if he had it for a year, it got around 6'' in the first 6 months, and 2 more '' in the next 6 months. very likely.

if your rbps are not moving, their stressed. mine swim constantly , but i have a powerhead in there to create some current. if you want to notice some growth, do daily water changes for a while. you'll definately notice their growing no matter what size they are.

it can be done, but u must consider it is a fish that is always moving and is found in huge schools naturally.

but hey try it, it might work well for you. if it doesnt do a trade

well thats aswesome then;)... i guess im gonna start doing water changes.. what do you feed yours? i feed mine feeders, fuzzies(mice)f/t, nightcrawlers, pieces of fish, and shrimp... what else can i feed them so they grow faster?

you think its possible your are always swimming cause they are not by themselves... i got my p;s at different times and was not able to introduce them all to the same tank with out a confrontation

this seem a bit odd to keep a RB on it's onw as they ARE schoaling fish... he would be much happier with some friends... although if you cannont get a bigger tank, i would suggest mabye getting a diff type of P, mabye a Gold P, or even a Black P, if you could get one fo those that would be awsome!!!! These fish are usually solitary, am i right?? and so they would be happier alone... just a thought

id keep more than one and get a bigger tank, but it may work, if not maybe a bit crampt
