Yes. They get too large for most home aquariums. They would be best in a large pond.

I thiink if Walmart, Petsmart and Petco are going to sell Pacus; they should seel the apropriate size aqurium for them to live in.

The glass on that tank is 6 feet tall and all the pacus are about two feet long.

They can get as long as 3 feet in length.

They get very big:

Some so called Silver Dollars are better as pets and do not get super huge.

Metynnis argenteus is a much better pet, as they only get 5.5 inches (14 centimeters). Big enough to be cool but not big enough to be a problem.

Yea, whatever you do, don't get a pacu, they get huge. We had them in a pond once and they were over 2 feet but they tried to eat the pond liner so we got rid of them. If you want a similarly looking fish, get silver dollars.


....and don't get fish from Walmart!
