not much, they are naturally skittish, rhombus in my opinion are a better choice
 
it really depends, if you have a large tank and a large group and interact with them everyday they can be not too skittish at all.
 
I think it depends on each individual fish, I have 2, one is always hiding, the other is always chasing around all the other tank mates
 
I agree, mine used to be skittsh but now they come up to me when I get close to the tank. Took them a while to get use to the light also. Spend time in front of the tank and hopefully they will get use to it.
 
mine have always been skittish. they would always freak out when ever anybody entered the room and always got it to fights. I only had 3 tho so that might of been an issue
 
mine have gotten much better since they hit 6 inches. they all come to the front when they see the food cup come out. but when my girlfriend walks by quick they still get scared
