I have 2 in my 75g tank. Both were bought from Petsmart and are about 4" or so, all they do is hide. Is this normal? I really don't like the fish so so it doesn't bother me that much. I probably should've never spent the money on them.
haha, ive had these guys for about 6 wks and they just wedge themselves in my driftwood! i guess i sort of like them, but they just dont match my other fish. the 75g is a grow out tank, w 2 oscars, 4 jacks and 2 gt's (and theyre all about 2" tops). which, they seem to be growing on me a little. once all the others are grown and out, i have no use for this tank, so i was plannin on keepin the 75g set up. i heard of ppl having a single fh in with red parrots, think thats an idea? thanks!
im thinking of putting parrots with my flowerhorn!!! you could always give it ago, depends on the fish. i had three parrots and never seen them, and i added another 3 and they were always out and about, funny eh???
haha goofy fish. yea, once my other cichlids go into the bigger tanks, i cant just leave 2 parrots in a 75g. theres a few local shops that come across some fh everyonce in a while. what kind they are? i have no idea. when that time comes ill have to do a little more researching. but from my little knowledge and research, the purpose of the parrots in with a fh is eliminate the process of the mirror so that the fh will show more color
well, i cant remember where i found that info from, i believe it was just from posting it on here. i know very little about fh's but someone suggested that. dont take my word for it. we can wait for one of the experts to post. i know theres a lot of knowlegeable ppl on this site in every section!
id love to have parrots with mine, but it does worry me the flowerhorn would tear them up, flowerhorns are very aggressive, im lucky mines in with a synodontis, a poly, and 2 plecs (royal and bristle) and i never see it bother them, infact it ignores them, but i would LOVE parrots, seen some videos on youtube theres alot of flowerhorns housed with parrots, i guess its down to the fish itself more then anything
my parrots were a little skitish in my oscar tank but when they got used to my fish and me they were the most playfull fish in the tank
now i have moved them into my bigger tank at home along with one i saved from a lfs, so i have 3 in total and they keep my tank alive and interesting
my clown knife is lazy and my arowana does his laps all day but the parrots are all over the place
BP's are extremely timid and shy. It takes a while for them to adjust, they do good with fast dithers. But they will be out. I got lucky with mine, he was never shy, never hid and is always out in the open. When I stick my hand in the tank he even bites it, lol. He's awsome but the others I've owned hide like crazy and when they saw me would bump into things. Just give them some time.
