Just got my order in today of red breasted chanchito cichlids aka Australoheros scitulus. As they settled, I've noticed they are a very close group meaning if one wonders, the others follow.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for something different instead geos or electric blue acara. I believe males get 5-6 inches and females stay slightly smaller.IMG_20240123_104527200.jpg

I had a few of these with my blue acara and rainbow cichlids. Sometimes they'd chill with the acaras but this tank no one was breeding. I think they were all females, the acaras all males and the rainbows are females. So every fish gets along great.

Yea I'm sitting back and watching them now, they stick very closely as a group. Very active

Australoheros facetus is another nice one to look out for. I often think this one is the link between acaras and centrals as it takes on many appearances. Oliver at Below water had them the last time I got his list.

I have a turquoise severum in there with them along with Columbian tetra. They'll get transferred to my future sa 125 gallon tank
