One of my fish got a little red bump then within two days it exploded into much more, I've never had a disease besides Ich one time so some help would be very much appreciated. Has spread to another fish so it seems to be contagious, pic of zonatum is what it starts as and pic of istlanum is what its become. I've up'd the temp and added salt but I'm thinking meds will be needed on this one. Water conditions are good, around 7ph and 15 nitrates, 300 gallon tank, lots of filteration and water movement.

lol, nice first post, misdiagnosis. Do you have a smaller tank to treat? looks like a secondary bacterial infection, I would try an antibiotic at this point, bulk nitrofurazone if you are treating the entire tank, kanamyacin if you can QT in a smaller tank.

Looks like hith. In bad cases it will expand into a fleshy crater looking wound. I suggest both metronidozole and maracyn plus.

I have same thing going on. My fish has it right on it's top lip and thought of herpes too lol. But I got maracyn 1 and 2 and have yet to use it. I'll keep track of this post for sure. Good luck

So I treated my tank once with some parasite guard and daily water changes and alot of aquarium salt and it fixed my tank right up. My fish is missing a few scales where the huge bump was but it seems to be healing up nicely.

My bro's tank on the other hand is doing very bad. We have not mixed anything between our tanks, only thing that has been in both our tanks is water from the sink and some frozen mysis shrimp made by hikari. Few ideas some buds had was metals leaching from hot water heater and causing problems. Have been using only cold water since but its still not getting any better.

Meds, water changes and salt have not helped at all on his tank and we are running out of ideas on how to treat this. We still don't even know what the sickness is. Here is some pics of his bartoni who is hit the worst.
