Yup 2 species, with cherry reds being the most forgiving of all the dwarf shrimp species...

If you havnt done shrimp before. I suggest you start with red cherrys cheap and forgiving of mistakes. Crs come in grades with varying degrees of white with sss having the most i believe. Someone correct me if im wrong

Selective breeding many many many years...if this is your first time keeping shrimp I would say forget about trying to keep highgrade shrimp. You are just going to flush hundreds of dollars down the drain.

For Crystal Red Shrimp grading depends on which country your in and can go up to SSS grade...

For example, in HK, solid white CRS shrimps aren't worth much any more, since when you mix them with regular high grade CRS the fry end up with washed out colors, so unless your looking for a tank of all SOLID WHITE CRS, then no point keeping them...

Now as for the other ways to grade, it will come down to pattern and how solid the whites and reds are... as well as no clear colors any where on the body... top quality Crystals over here have solid colored legs as well, so literally no part of the shrimp is clear, and the price tag that comes along with it can be crazy... personally i've seen single shrimp go for USD $2000 on the high end...

So really, as people above mentioned, get used to keeping shrimp like Cherry Red Shrimp first as they breed really easily and are much more forgiving... or your going to end up gambling with a lot of money coz CRS require very specific water parameters and temps... mess one thing up and you can easily lose a lot of shrimp or even your whole colony...

$2000 for a critter that doesn't even equal a snack!

I thought I was overpaying for cherries...
