hi, a fish in my 10 gallon has caught ick and because i do not have an isolation tank i have to dump the medicine directly in the tank. This wouldnt bother me but i have a red claw crab in that tank. I was told that ick meds can kill crustaceans so i decided to remove him from the tank. He is currently in one of those small cups chain stores keep bettas in. i put a little bit of gravel in and filled it with tank water. the ick medicine i am using is "Nox-ick" is it safe for crabs? because he looks so sad and scared in the little clear cup. How long will he last in the cup with no heating and no filtration?

Check what ingredients it has or whether or not it says on the bottle that it can be used in invert tanks?

Coz most meds tend to say if its safe or not?

since the crab tank would have salt in it if you provided correct habitat...that alone will fix the fishes ich actually.

You bring up a good point. Please read up on the care of these guys just to make sure you are providing them the habit they need.

sorry i am new to the hobby and this is my first tank and when the fish got ich i freeked out and got the medicine and didnt take any other (safer) treatment methods into account. I have put aquarium salt in the tank but the medicine is still in the water so im just gonna put him in after the last day of treatement from the medicine when i do a water change

You can always use a tupperware, or other fish bucket as better temporary housing in the future.buy a sponge filter to run in addition to your main filter.then if you need QT tank, just move the sponge filter to it
