I have a nice plexiglass tank thats 48x21x28 about 115 gallons. Debating if i should set it up for my my 9 inch midas and 9 inch red devil. Or try to sell it/trade for a standard 125gal. something with a bigger foot print. suggestions?

Probably won't be able to keep them both comfortably in either. I would recommend one with a 24 inch width and 6 foot length (pretty sur a standard 180).

Everytime I read about disasters with RD in cichlid communities (aka more than just the red devil in the tank) it ends in death.

But there is a guy on here who has 7 red devils in a 150 and they are doing very well, but you wou dlneed to get more than just 2 to let the overstocking thing work.

Its tricky, but I think if you overstocked a standard 125 would suffice.

Good luck, have extra tanks set up and dividers and view blockers in the tank prepared.

The fish world is tricky, and I have some odd combos myself (such as 2 knives living together). There is a guy on here like Poopsmart said that does 7 in a 150, however besides the overstocking part, I think some of his luck is due to the fact that they all grew up together. You can try it, it may work, but be prepared for the worse, and do not be surprised if it didn't.
