Hello everyone! I have a 75 gallon which i currently house my 8" or so red devil and about an 10" Pleco in. I've been looking at the orange pikes lately and i was wondering if anyone had any experience with red devils and pikes together? Ive heard that the plecos have a tendency to suck on the pikes?any input or suggestions for other tank mates, would be greatly appreciated :D

You could try it and just keep an eye on them and have another tank to move the pike. How big of a orange pike are you talking about. I have a persmart RD/Midas that is about 12-13 inches long and had a female orange pike that was a out 7-8 inches long, but it was in a much larger tank, 300, and they were fine.

I am thinking it will probably not work in a 75. The Red Devil will probably beat on the pike. That size tank is really only suitable for the RD and pleco. You could try and add something other than another cichlid though.

Plecos don't suck on pikes' slime coats. Maybe you were thinking bichirs.

Other possible tankmates - a bichir (such a large pleco like yours won't go after the slime coat). Maybe a smaller growing catfish like a Rafael (be sure and add hiding places if you go with this route.

agreed, ive tries so many tankmates with my red devil and nothing works so far

:D Thank you all very much, maybe sometime in the future with a bigger tank. haha atleast an entertaining idea for a bit. I think im going to go for the bichir's she already lives with one pretty scrap free so i might just go with another, any suggestions on how many bichirs i could do?

Depending one what kind of filtration you have i wouldn't add anything. Especially when in the first post you say it's just the RD and Pleco. Now you say you also have a poly? What kind of poly? It can make a huge difference in any recommendations. Also the RD may flip out and kill everything in there.
