Ive only had fish for about 5 months so i am pretty new to the hobby. I started out with the red devil and red terror in a 40 gallon. When the red devil started attacking the red terror I made a separator. At that time the red devil was bigger than the red terror. I kept in 20 gallons each for about 4 months until i finaly had the money to buy a new tank. A week ago i got a 130 gallon (76 long 18 wide 22 tall). The red terror is now around 6 inchs and the red devil is 4-5 inchs. When i first put them in this tank the red terror was attacking the red devil like crazy. After two days he stopped and the red terror was just following the red devil every where. This week they seemed to be obsessed with one area of the tank. This morning the red devil was digging a hole next to a rock in this area while the red terror was by her side watching. About an hour ago the red devil started laying eggs and the red terror fertilized them. I have a pike cichlid and a pleco in the tank with them. I have a few questions. Is it even possible for them have babys? How long until the eggs hatch? Will my pike and pleco be ok? If they do have babys i still have my 40 gallon tank that i could use to but the fry in. I am new to these forums so hi to everyone :headbang2.
Any advice would be appreciated

You might try the hybrid section for a better answer.

I am guessing they obviously can breed. I am surprised those two haven't killed each other yet let alone the pike... I am not extremely familiar with pikes so I can say whether it will live or die

looks like a barred midas to me

Nice fish , im sure they can breed together but forsure go onto the hybrid threads and you can get alot of your information there. Its also good that you have that other tank, it will be perfect to put the fry in, If your worried about your pike chiclid and pleco then you might want ot move them aswell because the "parents" are going to get really protective and might kill your pike chiclid.

thanks everyone for help. I made an id thread for the red terror. Ive been looking at pictures and it really looks like a barred midas.

yeah looks like a midas and yeah they can breed
