I purchased a red devil pair of a trusted local breeder and within one week of keeping them they spawned. After two weeks of the fry free swimming with their parents, I ended up moving the fry into their own tank.

Ever since i moved the fry the male hasn't stopped harassing my female and beats her up quiet bad, i ended up putting a divider in to keep them seperated but she keeps acting like she wants to be with the male. When I take the divider out the male continues to harrass and beats her up to the point i fear he might kill her, so in goes the divider again. The divider has been in for 3 days straight now and both havent eaten since putting the divider in. Also the male is usually very active but now he just sits in the corner like he's sulking or something and not interested in anything at all, while the female keeps acting like she wants to be on the other side.

Not sure what i should do, ive never kept a pair before and this is my first time raising fry ect. Should i just let them be together and trust he wont kill her? Any helpful advice would be much appreciated.

The male was ready to spawn again after you removed the fry. You could cut a portion of the divider so only the female can get through so she can retreat to when not ready to spawn.

I agree with tlindsey tlindsey on this one. If you cut a hole (maybe a couple of holes) small enough in the divider so the female has an "escape hatch" to get away from the male and get to safety, it's like her own personal area where the male can't get into. This way when she is getting beaten on or chased around she has a safe place to go.
