the 2 have been paired about 2 months.no eggs yet for whatever reason.they do this weird ritual where they will both be biting the glass at same time and then they fight each other for a little bit, some lip locking and what not then everything is back calm.it isnt true aggression but more like strength testing i guess since they dont take the scales off each other like they do an intruder.they have been cleaning the heck out of their terracotta pot for a long time and digging pits together.not sure what to make of it.male is about 12 inches and female prolly around 8.i do frequent large water changes and feed them plenty to promote breeding.is there a reason they havent laid eggs?

Do you have driftwood or Ornaments in the aquarium with the pair? Also Tankmates what species?

driftwood,a makeshift shelter the female can get away in case male goes crazy, only she can fit in there,a large terracotta pot, just the pair and a pleco to give them something to take aggression out on.anything else ive tried adding gets beat up pretty bad.they are intolerable of tankmates

they get along really well, even though no spawning.not sure what holds them together tbh without fry in the water.the male kinda lets the female throw her weight around and he just takes it for the most part, even though shes fairly passive while hes a killer for sure.he attacks anything that goes in the tank, nets, siphons or my hands,he has to be restrained when cleaning

Sometimes they will move and hide fry. That's why I asked about having Ornaments and Driftwood. When you stated they both attack the glass when you approach that's a indicator in most cases that fry are present.
