Hi All I have a Red devil cichlid about 5 inch seriously aggressive I put a Tiger Oscar in with him today and he killed it and it's a 6 foot tank I have he's alone in it up until I added the Oscar.

My local Store has said they will give me money if I sell the red devil back to them as they will make profit selling him on again due to me growing him out any other cichlids worth getting that are interactive?

Just keep the Devil. You won't regret it. When adult these fish are great. Yes have to keep them solo, but worth it in my opinion. Here is a video of my guy Casper, not a Devil, but a close cousin.

Consider getting him a girlfriend. They're even more interesting as a pair.

If you do, add some shelters that she can fit in that he cannot. And have a divider ready if he's too rough on her.

Consider adding a couple convicts. Put PVC pipe as tunnels under a rock bed so they can escape from him.

^^I had that setup with a pair of Trimacs and lived it. I plan to recreate it soon.

never keep only 2 cichlids in a tank. Always keep solo or 3+

Unless a pair.
Or otherwise 2 can be kept together, but aggression levels, species, and tank size all make a difference. In a 300-500, there is a much better shot of Oscar and devil together than in a smaller tank. Anything less it is practically guaranteed that the devil will kill.
