Hello, i often see posts where people are asking what foods they should feed to their rds, so i am posting this to help those people. If you know of other thing you can feed rds other than what i have mentioned or if you would like to share an experience you have had or benifits your fish have had with a particular food please do.

LIVE FOODS: Earthworms**, mealworms**, waxworms**, bloodworms, fish*, ghost shrimp*, flies**, moths**, grubs**, and crickets**.

*i highly reccomend that you DO NOT use store bought feeders as they often carry diseases and/or parasites.
**if your collecting your own bugs then be sure they havent been infected by pesticides or herbacides.

PELLETED OR FLAKE FOODS: They can be fed most tropical fish flakes/and or pellets as well as cichlid flakes/ and or pellets, this should be their staple diet.

FREEZE DRIED FOODS: Brine shrimp, gammuras, krill, plankton, bloodworms, tubifex worms, shrimp, and daphnia.

FROZEN FOODS: Krill, silversides, bloodworms, brine shrimp, and plankton.

OK i hope this helps and good luck.:)

some of those foods should only be fed to fry, or the smallest of cichilds.

I agree. An adult RD would make a mess out of tubifex, brineshrimp, flakes and a lot of other foods he listed.

Ok, well i dont personally feed flakes but know others that do so i wouldnt know if they made a mess, but tubifex worms are often sold in cubes and so idont really believe they would make that big of a mess. Also i never specified as to whether i am talking about babies, juvis, or adults(the post pertains to all ages.) So to say that some of the foods i posted should only be fed to babies is not trily making any sense:screwy: and is not nescesarily true.

Oh and brine shrimp are also sold in the form of cubes. And red devils usually make a mess of any food their given(they are kinda messy eaters).

I know from experiance that large fish can be very wasteful. There is nothing wrong with your article, of course larger fish can eat all that stuff. I was mearly saying that some of those foods can be messy.

what about beefheart? do all RDs not like it, or is it just mine?
