I recently bought a 6-7 inch long red devil, it appeared to have good size and great orange and white color to him or her. I put the devil and a fairly large convict male thats about 4 inches in my 75 gallon for themselves, now the problem that i'm having is I cant find anything that the devil wants to eat. I bought hikari gold in different sizes, I bought cichlid flakes, I bought Brine shrimp which is what the pet store said they where feeding him, I bought jumbo shrimp & even bought feeders the other day and he doesnt bother with anything, the convict eats everything up even the feeders but the devil seems like he could care less. I test the water and its perfect the temp is at 78 degrees and they both get along great just small fights here and there which usually just ends up with the convict taking off but its been about 2 weeks now and i'm getting worried could someone give me some advice on what to try? I was thinking of tryin some live worms and maybe some crickets? Any help would be apprectiated i wanna grow him out and would love to see him or her grow out to its full potential

DONT WORRY is all i can say i have had red devils and they are the pickyest fish when it comes to eating the best and only way is to keep feeding what your feeding and eventually when he'll get hungry hes gunna eat it. if u really want him to eat now u can ask the person u bought it from which food he was on and just continue that one.

did you try bugs? Just try anything except spiders and see what happens. becides there free!!!

I honestly was considering going to the bait shop down the road and getting worms, or goin to the pest store and getting crickets. Its been afew weeks and besides afew dried bloodworms he hasnt eatin anything, I just want to make sure my fish is healthy and grows to its full potential. And as soon as I get a chance I wanna take some pics and post up the devil and the convict.

Try hikari cichild bio-gold.I've had good luck getting other amphilophus to eat, with it.

Mine eats the Hikari... don't give him feeders unless your raising your own and they are safe... keep trying the pellets ..he will eat them eventually..you can also try frozen silversides..but the truth is he needs time to settle in...he may still be stressed.. they can go a long long time before they eat.. so relax and do not worry... add a little aquariam salt {according to directions...or garlic oil {according to directions for aquariams} to help him relax...it seems to sooth them and increase appetite...

if you can find it, Sera makes a product call "FD Artemia Shrimps" . . . it looks a lot like brine shrimp, comes in little cubes . . . it sends ALL of my fish - - cichlids and dithers - - into little feeding frenzies . . .

not easy to find, and not cheap, but it works . . .

I just wish the red devil ate like the convict, I cant beleive that my convict holds his own against the red devil these little fish are amazing. I'm going to keep tryin what i've been giving him but i'm gonna get some worms to try too, and thanks for all the feedback I appreciate the help.
