Recently, two of my RD's paired up :) and I now have hundreds, upon hundreds of tiny tiny fry. Over the past 4 days they have grown from little balls wiggling around to little monsters that actually resemble fish. I was wondering, with the other types of fish I have in the tank, when should I block the RD's off from the rest. The RD's dont let anyone come close to the fry. They are in the middle of a giant ceramic pot.

I ask because I know that if stressed, some fish will eat their young. Im not sure when the best time is to seperate the RD's from the rest. And then when should I pull the fry away from the parents? Any suggestions?

Less questions, more pictures !! :D

In all seriousness though with that combo I'd let the fry grow a bit, say a week more and then consider a grow out tank. If your only option is to seperate the RDs from the rest of the tank, and I could be reading that wrong, then why not do it now?

if u want to raise all the fry its best to seperate them from the parents as soon as they are free swimming and transfer them into their own tank.

It all depends on how many survive. I plan to use some as feeders when they get bigger. Probably drop the rest off at the LFS.

my lfs wasn't taking in any more rd unless you were giving them away. They spawn too easily. Congrats on being a grandfather!
