I just got (6) juvenile RDs (probably midevils) from my LFS. I was originally thinking of ordering from TUIC but my LFS happened to have exactly 6. Figured it was meant to be.

They are all probably between 2.5”-3”. The plan is to grow them up together and end up with hopefully a single nice looking male or a pair.

They are in a 90 gallon with (2) silver dollars, (1) giant danio, (1) BN pleco, (1) Senegal Bichir, and (1) Lima Shovelnose Catfish.

Figured I would keep track of their growth through this here post if anyone is interested. Anyone know if it’s possible to tell if any of them are male at this size?

Looks like they just recently been added to the tank, all huddled together like that. Also looks like they are still peeling from infant hide me colors to the adult coloration.
If you can get some pics later tonight when it get dark out, also turn off all lights in the room, no flash just the tanks light I should be able to pic apart what they are.

Here is a pic of a male and female about same size in the peeling stage. Mind you they are Saggitae, a close cousin.

The female is on the left, male right.

Here is a zoomed in female. Notice the short distance from mouth tip to begging of dorsal fin.20210105_180619.jpg
And now a male.

See how her face is short and stubby as compared to the male. His is more elongated20210105_183000.jpg
Here we have female on the left again. Notice her short stubby face as compared to his more elongated one.
I can see possibly two males already in the pics you posted.

That’s some good info, I appreciate it. I tried to get some pictures. They are more than happy to come front and center but they don’t stay still long enough to get a good focused picture lol.

So just guessing here, behavior plays as much a role in telling them apart as looks does.
As in this pic, a male is gill flaring at a young Casper for possession of the turf and or female near him.

So always going left to right
Pic 1 F-- M-- F-- M-- M
Pic 2 M-- M-- M-- F no guess on fish behind fish 3
Pic 3 F-- M-- M-- M
Pic 4 M--M

Pic 3 you can really see the difference in the stubby faced female and the 3 males

Do you think it would be beneficial to have a group of giant danios in there as well?

It may while still small, but be warned Amphilophus don't play well with others. I tried Swordtails when I mine were young they didn't last two weeks.

Later when Casper was bigger I tried Spannar barbs and he ate 4/6 overnight. 20190426_110306.jpg
