hey all,
just wondering if anyone out ther knows the growth rate of juvi red devils, i currently have a 3 1/2 inch juvi, he is housed in a 2 ft tank with a 1inch keyhole, he still hasent got much colour to him, still pretty white with black spots and bars all down his body, just wondering the growth rate and how big/old they are before there colour comes out, i am feeding him with, bloodworms, occasional feeder ( rosey barb ), hikari bio gold pellets, high quality flake and beef heart. any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

cheers, PumbA

Hi. My RD's growth rate from 2" to 6" has been about .75"-1" per month. I think yours will grow much more slowly in a 2 foot tank...is it a 20 gallon? I hope it's a growout tank, you didn't mention if you'll be moving him to an adequate size tank in the future.

growth depends on tank size, water quality and diet, but on average it should grow a inch or inch and a half a month.

balton, yes i am moving him into a 6ft tank with, a large peacock, large green terror and a bumble bee catfish.

Awesome that's great. IME fish seem to grow faster in larger tanks even with the same diet and water changes.
