im looking for a roomate for my 6 inch reddevil he currently lives in a 125 gallon by himself. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Its going to depend on his temperment. I have 2 RD's 1 is in a tank with a Jack Dempsey, Pike Cichlid, and Zungaro Cat. The other is in a tank with a Jag, Jack Dempsey Green Terror and Myan Cichlid, along with some dither fish. I have a few problems with the first tank as far as aggression goes nothing serious though, but they will be moving to a 150 gal in a cpl ofweeks.

You could try any aggressive cichlid but make sure you have plenty hiding places rock caves rootwood etc to break up the tank and to give the fish a place to retreat to and/or establish a territory of their own. I would add some medium size fast fish as dither fish to hopefully decrease the aggression. I have tinfoil, albino, and clown barbs, in my more aggressive tank. I am going to buy some bala sharks for the new one.

Good luck

thnx. i had him in there with a bigger butterkoferi but he went into his cave and killed him but i will definitly try some dither fish this time.

You are just rolling the dice but any other big male cichlid's that are popular would do.

It will depend on personality and claimable living space.

Personally I think a Royal Pleco, 6-8 clown loaches, and some bala sharks would be better.

Or a female for him to do the hibity dibity with :naughty:

I'd try something on the less aggressive side like a dempsey, green terror or texas. if you go with something too aggressive it will try to challenge the devil to be king of the tank. one of the lesser aggressive ones will learn to back down. also, I'd add 2 more cichlids instead of just one. that way it won't be just one fish getting the brunt of the aggression. I'd add a GT and JD myself or a JD and carpintis. :grinyes:

for sure. a couple other surly cichlids like carpintis who will still bow down.
