i saw a very nice red devil at the LFS today. i know there aggressive. i was wondering if you all could give me as much information as possible, Max size, tank size, Any possible tank mates.

the tag at the store said" red devil- max size 12"- aggressive". and that was it(hand writing, i guess they just got it in)

Heres what i think ive picked up readin other posts:

10"-14", aggressive but mainly towards other cichlids, feed krill to bring out the reds...

would it be possible to grow one out from about 3-4 inchs till ??)in any of the following set ups.
54 corner with a 6" poly and
55 with 2 6" hujeta gars
75 with a 8" tire track(only fish that cant change tanks)

the 55 and the 75 are currently cycling, and there all in the 54 right now with some other various things that can all be moved around, except the tiretrack wich must stay in the 75

To clarify, NO i did not buy the RD, i know it could seem like it with "there all in", but no, this is pre possibly purchase research

personally, wouldnt attempt any tankmates, ones ive kept even destroyed plecos, any of those tanks will work for quite a while if the devil is small, the 75 will work for life. They are an awesome fish to own!

the problem with the 75 is, The girlfriend bought the tank spefically ot move the tiretrack to, so unless thell co exsist, the RD with have to be housed in sumthin else, looks like im waiting for a new tank... again.

the tire track eel may be able to dodge an RD while its still young.....

actually. i had a baby RD that took out all the other fish in his tank before he was 3"..
Though the other fish were small like him it still goes to show how aggressive they are even when young..

i wouldnt attempt it with any of those settups with the current stock

unless you can move the Poly in with the 2 gars and give the corner tank to the RD.

The Corner was is prgress to be a planted dwarf cichlid tank.thank can change tho.
Do you really belive the RD would work in that tank, i thought that would be to small? the one i really like was about 6-7"($21.99,good price?) but that also had a bunch of smaller ones, say 3-4"($12.99)

Y cant the RD and poly work, like it does in my dreams lol

Thanks for the "relocation" advice, but can i get more info on care for the RD. This would end up bein my first large cichlid.

AND

do the prices listed seem to be fair?

Yes decent price-
Are you sure this is a RD and not a Hybrid though-Alot of people dont know the difference-Includeing me until I got into them....

Other than that-It's just people say above-Best kept solo-But can cohab-Prefer larger tanks to minimize aggression and to beable to set territories etc,etc.....
Water change one a week-Feed quite heavily-But dont over feed....Heavy filtration is a must...
What else you want to know?
