Hi everyone ... Last week i picked up a 6 inch red devil/ midas . I kept him in a 50 galon tank . The water conditions are perfect but the problem is he is not eating and also hiding alot :( what should i do ? I have done some research but nothing really answers my question .

I know I have had that problem with younger midas/red devils usually not with larger ones. I usually first started by trying to feed them with the tank light turned off. For whatever reason that seemed to help.

Make sure he's got nice, clean water (i.e. do a big water change) and DON'T feed him for a couple of days.

He's freaked out by the new environment and needs to settle down. Constantly trying to feed him will only result in excess food rotting and bad water quality.

Let him settle down and get a little hungry...and he'll be out.

Matt

try some different types of food, maybe he was on flakes or a particular pellet, could try sinking pellets?
