So I have had Bruce, my 10 year old red devil for just over 3 weeks now. He is doing well. He eats well and I give him a variety of pellets but his favourite is meal worms. His water chemistry is very good. Ammonia and nitrite 0 and nitrates 7.5 PPM. He is getting fatter, fins are long and full and his colour is good and he is digging big holes and rearranging his tank. I have a few observations and questions for you all monster keepers. I am not trying to solve a problem, just looking for insight.
1- Bruce’s left eye is cloudy and has been since before I got him. I think it might be a scar. Bear in mind, he is a 10 year old cichlid that killed off all the other cichlids he grew up with. It appears to be the outside of his eye that is discoloured and it is not fuzzy and is not expanding. Has anybody seen this? Any comments?
2-Sometimes, Bruce will be motionless for a long time (sleeping perhaps) when he will suddenly dart across the tank, gravel flying everywhere, and will bash his head on the aquarium glass. He acts as if something bit him in his sleep and startled him. He then settles back down and carries on like nothing happened. Have any of you seen this? Comments?

The cloudiness on his eye can be either scar tissue or a buildup of toxins, for the latter mix a little edible active carbon to his diet, the spooking seems odd to me
