Is this a red devil or midas? I've been offered this guy that was bought at an inch long back in 2007 as a "red devil". I'm planning on housing him by himself in a much better environment (90 gallon). What kind of lifespan is the average on these guys?

I think it's more RD than Midas.
How about a Xilouense? Can it be that also? Looks like it. And he's really nice.

I think this is a Midas. Not sure who's fish or what it was ever labeled as but to me a Midas looks like this.

chef ........ there is a sticky at the top of this section that will answer your question.

I saw that, but nothing is better than having you "experts" see the actual fish and weigh in some opinions. Thanks!

You might want to take a closer look at that sticky then. :)

The point of that sticky is that no one (including an expert on the species) can simply look at a fish and determine its genetics, especially with A. labiatus & A. citrinellus.
