do red devils and pacu make good tankmates????

I hear from many claims its a good combination. but i have this doubt in the back of my head....

any comments....

i have a midas and i want another pacu... hmmm. ill be watching this one.

My theory is that to house a pacu, you need a relativly large tank of more than 1000G's. Thus, why would a Red Devil bother being aggressive in that environment? Typicaly the more room a fish has, the less likely is it to be attacking and biting fellow fish.

im not sure if its true but my neighbor had a pacu and a red devil in a 100g and recently the red devil killed the pacu which it was twice as big as the red devil. so hats why im asking cuz sumone offered me a red devil and if its true about red devils killing bigger fish then i should not get him.

As Mystix said, a Pacu will outgrow pretty much any tank. As for your neighbor's red devil killing a pacu twice its size- like all cichlids, two fish of the same species may have different personalities. Your neighbor had an aggressive rd, but there are several rds that could live with pacus. The larger the tank, the less chance for aggression, and you should make sure that the red devil and pacu are put together as juvi's.

oh
so should u recommend for me to get a RD????
with my community tank???

Pacu are skittish, calm and passive fish. They will not bite back. So the red devil will always have the upper hand. Plus a 100G is cruel to a Pacu, that and 100G's of space all the the RD's territory.

:ROFL: A RD wont fit in a 30G, that and he'll rape the fish 5 times before they get to pick back. Which they would probably wind up a fecael matter anyhow.

oh i should tell my neighbor to get rid of it. the pacu was the only victim, the rd had, the pacu was 7". in the 100g he also has 2 channel cats, 2 tiger oscars, and 3, 5"+ pleco
