I currently have a 125g with:
3 JD's(1xM @ 9"s and 2xF)
1 Convict
1 Red Devil 8"s

My red devil has slowly cleared out about 5 africans from the tank killing them one at a time as it grew. I also had another red devil that I got at the same time which was always just a little smaller.

Last night I came home to the smaller of the two red devils laying dead and completely tore up. The convict as well as a female JD were tore up as well but doing very well still.

It looks like my Red Devil is going to try to clear out the entire 125g tank to be all his own.

Has anyone run into this before in their community tanks.

Yes. Red Devils arent community fish AT ALL...unless the community is 300-500+ gallons in most cases. Ive had several and tried to do the community thing with them as well and it never worked in anything I had from 125-265g. To me, they are/were harder to do in a community setting than any of the parachromis family.

Your other fish probably have approx 72 hrs of life left. Put a divider up or remove them/him from the tank or he will most likely finish the rest of them off PRONTO. Hes done with having tankmates it sounds like.

X2. I'll add this though. It may be easier for you to add other fish like danios, Siver dollars or barbs if you want more variety and movement. This does not always work though. Most Red Devils don't tolerate anything no matter what size. No matter what your decision, act quickly! Sorry for your lost fish.

Very true. Dithers worked with mine fine. I had large danios & tiger barbs that he left alone. Basically anything over 3 inches hed try and destroy.

Ive got a big male about 12" I dont think I would even attempt to put him with any other fish unless I had at least a 300 gallon

My RD is 13inches
Mine even hunted out tiny bristlenose
He will not tolerate any other living being in his tank.
He even bites me when I try to clean the glass.

From everyone's input it doesn't sound promising to keep him with the other fish.

I now need to decide if I want to try to trade/sell him or get another tank to keep him in as a solo fish.
