After recieving a Red Devil from JeffLeMay for a friend of mine who is in basic training right now, i have decided i really like the red devil.. the one i got for my friend is alone in his 90 gallon, and i am taking care of it(its a suprise for his return).. I want one now, for my 125, but right now i have my Tiger Oscar, JD, 13"Ornate bichir, and my small senegal bichir.. i would not get the red devil until i move my ID shark... do you think a red devil would be too aggressive, or even too big to share a tank with my Oscar? my oscar is mean, but Red devils are famous for their tempers.. also i will post pics of the devil i got my friend soon, its amazing looking.. thank you

While I would be the first to say that, in this hobby, you just never know. At times, fish will defy all logic.

That said... I think it'd be a death sentence to the oscar. That RD will be a ticking time bomb, imo.

You can do it if you are willing to chance the RD snapping if it decides that it wants no tankmates. I personally wouldn't do it. Things can be fine for a while, then out of nowhere a RD can turn ugly. Most can only be kept with tankmates in large aquariums. Most of the time they have to be kept in solo tanks. If you attempt to keep a RD with your Oscar watch it closely and be prepared to remove one or the other. And you're right, a 55 is not large enough for a RD long-term. They get too big.

ya an the poly's would be a tasty snack for them.

Yes Red devils would work, if you saw my 125g you would freak out, mine you this is a grow out tank for a 240g but I have 4 med size devils with Tiger oscar and Albino Oscar and a jag/Carpints 2 jacks and gt/convict/firemouth. All get along great and soon to be rehouse into the monster 240g! Oh thats the 2 240gallon that I have!!!

P.S I though Red Devils where all bad but I own total of 6 awesome:headbang2

when my red devils were around 2"-3" they would rip chunks out of my 8"-9" oscar i had to seperate them, he was being eaten alive....
