This one is a bit easier. Males often display a large nuchal hump of fatty tissue on their forehead, even at a fairly early age. Females will get a small one as well sometimes, but much more pronounced in the male. Just google Red devil cichlid, click the image tag, and I am sure you'll see that hump I am talking about on some big males. Don't know about others, but mine had a noticeable hump at 3.5 to 4 inches.
