A woman 30 mins up the road has a 5-6 inch red devil for sale for $10. I called her and she has him in a 37 gallon by himself because she said he's a real bruiser. She's also selling the tank for 80 or 40 just the tank.

She said he has a hump already so I'm assuming male and that its a midas not a devil but I haven't seen him. With him already having a hump I'm thinking bigger than 6". I didn't think they got a kok til they got bigger, is this true?

I want to put him in my 75 but I've grown attached to my two 3 inch Oscars in there. Do you think if I caught some blue gill and sunfish to disperse the aggression they would be alright till they got bigger or should I rehome the little guys?

I just got a 4.5 inch Midas with a kok all ready. I have mine in with 3 fish that are like 2 inches. Just provide a ton of caves.

Dude. Amphilphous are so cool and fun. Best fish personality of all other cichlids. My little one is a hand chaser and harmful to smaller tank mates . He's crazy but that's what I love about them. You should get and keep him. Best wet pet also. many + about Midas.

yeah they can get humps at 5-6". You should get him.

Mine is about 4.5"-5".

Go for it, I always give plenty of different size hiding spots for my fish and my red devils have never beat up on my smaller fish

These guys are definitely one of my favorite fish and I would probably do it. My only hesitation though is that I've never been able to successfully keep O's with a devil/midas. If it ends up working out... you'll probably need a bigger tank in the near future.

I thought you saying about rehoming the Midas but now I know you meant Oscars.. Rehome the little guys. You should. Midas grow pretty fast and eat alot. He'll destroy both oscars , stress them to death, or stunt them. N Lesser fish cleaner water.

My 5" Midas is being trained to be with smaller tank mates right now with plenty hinding spots. He's not mean to them as before.. But Midas; after they get big and fat, they mild down

I'd need a bigger tank if I was raising guppies. Always need a bigger tank. I had one years ago and loved him. Real tank bangers!
