So my red devil is in its forever home 80 gal tank with one pictus catfish which it has never bothered but wiped out everything else when in a smaller aquarium. The devil is still really shy I have been feeding it live river shrimp but still won't really feed in front of me. The tank looks so empty as when I'm in the room it just hides in a log ornament. Is the any catfish or anything that will liven up my tank without being mauled. I know it's a risk but if I got a larger species than him/her will it bring the devil out and feel safer or is it going to come out until it has killed the other fish. I've never owned a large robust cichlid that is so shy but very dominant when competition is in the tank.

The Red Devil has claimed the aquarium and probably will kill anything put in especially a Cichlid despite the size.

Nathan1989 Nathan1989 give it some time. It will get bolder with age.
Once it gets some size on it, it will probably be attacking you when you’re in it’s tank.
