red devils easy to breed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
like alot of cichlids really not that hard you might just have to watch out for aggression , so you might want to try a divider with a whole small enough for the female to escape from the male if need be

high 70 about 77 or so and you know it best to get like six and that them pair off instead of getting a male and them a female cuz the male might just kill the female

read this: RD Breeding

just take some time to read this, this lady is having some trouble breeding them. also for reference she has many tips for breeders in the topic.

gl. take in account that this is one persons experiences, some others on here might have totally different experiences.

alright. so it isn't safe to just get one male and one female? i should get a couple females and let one pair off? what if i get one male/one female and put a tank divider between them for a week or so and then take it out and see what happens?

It might work or it may not work. Your better off to get around 6 juveniles and let a pair form. That will probably happen when they get around the 5" or 6" mark. Then remove the others so that the pair can breed, but keep a divider on hand in case of male aggression. In my experience whenever I turn the temp up to 80 degrees it triggers my midas to breed. Theyre a fairly easy cichlid to breed.

if you have any fish in with a pair they will beat them to death... if your fish will spawn they will pair and they usaully work through the aggresion if you have a large enough tank for them to escape each other with caves etc.... its better to leave them be and let them work it out
