As we know they are very destructive towards plants and other decor. I was in my local lowes today and saw they had lucky bamboo plants on offer $1, all around 20" high so i bought 20
Im planning on using eggcrate to hold them up right against the back wall of the tank. Are there any pros or cons with regards to using these plants in my red devil aquarium ? I realise the top leaves have to be above the water level or else they will rot. My tank is a 75 gallon so its 18" high. Also will 20 be enough to help with nitrate levels ?

Yeah I would think 20 would help filter the tank. I have 2 ten inch brugmansia that are the work horses for filtering my 15 gallon gourami tank. In my midas tank (29 gallon he's still a little guy 3.5"ish) I have a few kinds of java moss. He shredded the smaller ferns. Then he pulled out most of the windelov ones and put them on the filter intake. He will swim around the tank with one of these in his mouth and then he puts them back against the intake (sometimes). The ferns with the large wide leaves he let stay put. He hides in these. He's an odd little guy. So honestly, some might get destroyed, some might get turned into toys, and some may be safe in the tank. Its all up to your rd aka your aquarium's interior decorator. :) Hope that helps some.

Hmmm well going from his track record i have a feeling they will be all over the tank. Maybe i should hold them in place with the squares on the eggcrate at the top aswell as the bottom
