Hey guys and gals im new to this forum.. so.. please dont bash? haha :( i got a question.. i just recently recieved red devil cichlids there about.. maybe.. 2inches.. or 3 at the most i have them in a 30 gal tank setup.. and i got 2 of em my question is.. whatever i feed them.. beefheart, pellets, ect.. they will not eat it nor.. will they swim to surface.. to eat it and its been about this.. for about 2-3 weeks.. and i finally decided to buy blood worms.. (dried not live) but they eat those but.. blood worms wont help them grow? faster will it? and what can i do to get them to eat pellets? my water temp is about 75F right now also.. if that makes a difference. feed back would be great thanks a million

we just got rid of a spawning pair of red devils, they are true monster fish.. and a pain in my neck.. but..

we had a great deal of trouble getting them to eat while they were here.. the female would only eat frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp. the male would only eat the stuff that floated away from the frozen blocks of brine shrimp.. and then he wouldn't eat while anyone watched.. i had to pop the cubes of brine shrimp and blood worms into the tank and then go and peek around the corner to see him actually eat.

don't worry their just getting use to the tank... as long as they are eating something they will come around and become more aggressive about eating.. Baby RD's can be sensitive and shy.. even big ones who are changed from one tank to the other suddenly become shy and nervous, then once they get use to it all again they go back to their outgoing personalities.. RD can be big babies..:D

I've got a red devil and the only thing he'll eat is Cichlid pellets and Flakes, though at his size (8") flakes are kind of pointless and he could never survive long term on them. I've tried other stuff. Beefheart, various frozen and fresh food. It just falls to the bottom. Oh... There is one other thing he likes to eat... EYES!!! Any fish that I've ever tried with him... He eats their eyes before killing them!!! Damn!

id say that untill about 7 or 8" most RD are kinda finickey or shy. just feed a little bit , blood worms are great, good prtien, try to find some earth worms get em small or just cut up big ones into small pieces. but id definately look into a bigger tank ...or small fish, these fish will be good for now but before long you will either have one kill the other or they wll just get so big that the tank cant support them any longer. great fish though try to find like a 75 and get rid of one of em when they get bigger

my red devil was eating color bits and cichlid pellets until i put my festea in there and i think the festea scared the bjesus out of him and he hasnt ate anything in a week.

first of all that tank is gonna be way to small for two red devils,
one red devil needs a 55 gal

and also that temperature is a little to cold for tropical fish, the temp should be at 72-82
it might not sound like that much of a difference in temperature but for a fish it is
