Oregon, it's part of 'Murica!
So my RES has been shedding a lot recently and I think its a combination of overfeeding and to hot basking temp. I moved the lamp away so its now between 90 - 95F and a 78-80F water temp. She is about 5 inches in shell length. How much should I be feeding her and how often. I have been feeding her on the same schedule as my fish which I think is not the best idea, In the morning and at night.

Ho YEA your feeding it way to much and possibly the wrong stuff. Big juveniles like yours only need to eat in substancial way every 2 days. What you feed it?

Growth is growth......Your doing everything right, so why question what you're seeing? There isn't such a thing as a "too hot basking spot". What you're seeing is a Turtle that is properly metabolized, and is putting that metabolization to good use. 9 times out of 10, people under-metabolize the things, and wonder why a Red Ear is 4" at two years. I can get females to hit 8-10" in 12 months. They are designed to grow, and when properly metabolized, they can eat door knobs, digest them, and thrive........

Turtle pellets, crickets, mealworms, and occasional romain lettuce
Ad more dark leafy vegetables as like 50% of the diet, and more as it grows.
