How would an adult Red Ear Slider do with Semi Aggressive cichlids in a 225 gallon tank? They are probably to slow to catch the fish right? What do they eat?

Thanks!

You should be worried about the fish, not the turtle. It might work, but if turtle decides it wants to eat fish, it will eventually get them. Speed has nothing to do with it, fish have to sleep sometime.

hmmm.. So the turtle could kill the fish if it wanted to.. If it makes a difference the cichlids are 6-12".

An adult RES's Shell can get 12" and sometimes larger.. They are also very messy.

You will be fine, cichlids and red ears will be fine together. And if it makes you sleep better at night i've had that mix over 20 different times with out a problem. But they are a bit messy so make sure your filtration is up to the task. I live in Miami, Florida where they're a native species and I can say this with years of experience to back it up.

This is what I wanted to hear! How big of a heat lamp would I need?

It doesn't a red ear won't eat your fish. It means the probability in IMO, and years of exp. that i've had with them says you will be good to go. And any sized heat lamp would do as long as the turtle can pull itself up to bask you should be fine, and keep it on that one spot. And a easy way for your Red Ear not to go after your fish is to start hand feeding it, that way you will find it move active when you're around and when its feeding time. There is not much I can say, but got out and see what happens.
