Their is a definite chance the SOFTshell will get seriously injured.

Softshells are very prone to developing fungus from injuries and bruises. The sharp nails of a slider will scratch the heck out of a Softshells shell. Fungus infections can be deadly to them. Plus RES's are very hyper and will drive a softshell nuts in an aquarium.
