What are good tankmates for red finned boreyli? I was planning on a male and three females in a 50 breeder. Also two adult Synodontis Angelicus.

That would be a nice setup for breeders and they would do just fine alone.. keep in mind that these fish do get large.. 5-6 or so inches for male and females just a little smaller.. but to answer your question.. good tank mates for them would be other peaceful malawi cichlids.. no aggressive types.... :D

Males get around 8 inches. Sometimes in tank can get larger
.mike i have been researching their size since i have a male and three females i am currently trying to breed..and there is so much controversay in the size from article to article... so i figured the average would be about 6 inches..here is one article i just pulled up.. i sure would like to hear if anyone has a really big guy... and how old he is...

I always thought they got bigger too..but lately everything i look up about them never states they grow more then 6 inches.. i hope they really grow as big as you say.. that would be awesome .. since i have them,.. i wonder if anyone has a big..big borleyi..sure would love to see him.

I had a male that was easily 10 inches. He was older. He passed a while back. I had some females I passed on that where about 2 years old. I will check with new owner.

I wish, I picked him up from a buddy. He was too stressed by the move, and did not make a recovery. I was pretty bummed.

Great choice I love my Borleyis 1 male and 2 females, would like more females but they are doing great right now. they get along great in my tank and I have a peacock/ hap/ mbuna/vic mix tank and they are doing very good at the moment but I have made many adjustments and got many of these at 2 in... I observe them constantly to see how they are interacting and have other tanks to be able to move them if they get too agressive which the blue zebra did so he's out of the mix... It all depends! the best tankmates are peaceful fish though because these are a peaceful peacock! wow the males at 7 + in are stunning!! choose wisely since it is only a 50 gal that might be a bit small for Borleyi but should be ok for a while... I wouldnt have to many more than 10- 15 fish in a 50 gal breeder~ mine dont breed as well in the 55 as they do in the 125...

Ive got a borleyi thats every bit of 7 inches and eats like a friggin animal!!!! Hes 15 seconds into the vid in my sig. I got him from a guy at about 2 years old and ive had him for about 3 so he's rouhgly 5 years old.
