Red Garnet Sand Safety

I recently bought some garnet sand off Zoro in the 16 grit (all they had at the time) from American Abrasives, and it has me a bit iffy on what I see. There are loads of long shards of white crystal mixed into the garnet that are pretty sharp (I included a picture). They are sharp enough to puncture into my hand with a light press.

Is this garnet safe to use, or should I toss it out? I'd try to remove the sharp pieces, but I don't want to spend a whole Sunday trying to sift through 70 pounds of the stuff...

That's quite chunky than what I have on my tank. I think I have a 30/60 grit, more sand type grains. Maybe not use it and asked for a sample so you know what you're getting.

Yeah, I decided not to use it... AFTER I spent 3 hours washing it. I ordered some 36 grit instead, hopefully it won't have the long shards of clear crystal.
