Have you tested your water?
Yes
If I did not test my water...

Do you do water changes?

Hello list. A curious red growth has recently appeared the right eye of my Bumblebee Oscar . He is about 8 years old and never had any health issues before. I typically change 85% of the water from his 5’ 120 gallon tank once a week. The growth appeared about 10 days ago and took about a week to get to its current size. I increased the water changes to 80% every 2-3 days but think he likely needs some kind of medication.

I test the water regularly and his nitrates are around 10 or less, ammonia and nitrites are 0. I clean out his FX4 every couple of months and the sponge filters once a week.

He shares the tank with a handful of small clown loaches.

Any advice on what this is and what I can do to reverse it is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Separate and keep water clean. I’m not good at giving medicine advice but kno4te kno4te should give his opinion. I think it looks like something bacterial but not sure. Also 85% a week seems kind of strange. Just my opinion I would start doing 45% 2x a week. But definitely separate him if possible.

Looks more like a growth to me. If u can get it to the vet and have them check It out. Maybe it can be cut off and no probs.

Thought the same but with the Redding and the one darker red spot in the middle of it makes me think it may be something more than just a growth.

Thanks, I was going to check with my local wet pet vet if no one here had any treatment suggestions. Perhaps it is no more serious than that.

Yes that also concerns me. Maybe some kind of external tumor? Will see what the vet thinks in any case.

Yea an external tumor. Sometimes lymphocystis can have growths like this but more white and cauliflower in appearance.
