Red head Severum

How do you tell if a red head Severum is male or female?

I don't really know much about severums. But in general if you post a few good pics of your fish, if it is at a size it can be sexed, the fine people on this forum can tell you what you have.

males have pointed anal and dorsal fins while the females are more rounded off. Thats the only difference i know of.

I would add worming in the coloration on the cheeks. Males have broken worming and females have a more solid base.

if you are talking about rotkeil severums eveything i read points to the markings on their faces as they mature. Males have the worming all over their faces while females have less and their gill plates are a smooth solid color. But im no expert either it is just what i have read XD

Yep its a rotkeil severum aka red headed or red shouldered severum.

It's hard to say from those pics, but I would say male B/C I think I see worming on the face. That isn't a fool-proof method, but IME, a fairly accurate one.

most likley a male because here is my female
