I am working on getting something that is 5ft x 18 inches. I want to do a wolf tank. A couple years back there was a member that had 4 together. Has anyone else kept these guys in groups? Or are they best kept as the only wolf? I would love to do a group but if not advisable can do a solo tank.

Should be able to keep one for sure in there. A group would need a larger tank. Generally
a group will lead to one due to fighting and dominance. When very small can try to keep together and see if will get along. The best way to get them to tolerate each other and potential tankmates.

IndyTexy IndyTexy had a group together. He had lots of space and decor for hiding and keeping each one busy.

Would advise a solo fish as most often gender cannot be determined and leads to one fish (majority of time). There are exceptions.

No Hoplias species in that tank, not wide enough, but with erythrinus I'd say it's possible to do a small group of 4. But as stated above not advisable. You can do other fish with it. I have mine with a jaguar cat and two bichirs, the jag cat is dominant over it and the bichirs are ignored.
