I am thinking about getting a red hi fin wolfish. I have had them in the past and kept them with nothing.
This time I am thinking about putting them with catfishes.
I am thinking about getting a 40 gallon tank- 36 + 18+ 16 and putting 2 Pimelodus Ornatus cats. All fishes will be in the same size around 4 inches.
I know these wolves are a bit scrapy and such.
Just wondering if it would work with multiple hiding spots and coverage.

I may plan to do a order from the States. No problem ask anything.
I have seen them pop up from time to time at Big als in Miss a few years ago.
I have not seen them since.

Oh, thanks it wasn't a trick question. I've seen them around. Was wondering if you knew of a store that has them in at the moment as I've got my 75G waiting for one..

Big Al's in Scarborough is getting them in this week. So no need for you to order them from the states buddy.

I know that Aquatic Kingdom in Mississauga gets them in from time to time (called them 2 weeks ago and they had 12, but now they're sold out).

Also Lucky's in Markham has had juveniles in for cheap, but talking to them on the phone is a bit tricky..

I haven't seen any Hoplias species in the area at all though

I have a wolf that's looking for a good home.

Op it will depend on your wolf, some can co exist while some are bastards.

It depends on the individual wolf.

I noticed that wolffish tend to vary greatly in how they act in a tank. My red wolf for an example attacks anything that moves, including lose java fern plantlets.

I tried mixing him with large male convicts, but he would try to destroy any fish that he wasn't going to eat.

I've seen red wolfs also mix with fish for short amounts of time.

Wolfs kept by themself IME are more likely to be active and responsive. Mine is always swimming and goes nuts whenever he sees me. He loves to watch whatever I am doing. Everytime I see red wolfs in tanks with other fish, they tend to hide a lot.

I have my 6" wolf in a standard 20 gallon. Seems small, but he has plenty of room and seems comfortable in the tank. I'd say he is probably so comfortable, because the tank is all his territory. If you had him in a 40, he might hide a lot.

Also, I'd suggest getting your's personally. Males are colorful, and females are colorless for the most part.

Ive had them with lots of different fish and havent had any trouble with them. As long as there is lots of room and hiding spots. Having said that a previous post has already stated that not all of one species of erynthrius are of the same temperment. I guess its just hit and miss that you will get a good one. Ive owned approximately 6-8 of these red wolves and havent had a problem mixing them with other fish yet. Right now i have two in with my peacocks and there isnt a problem at all.
