I just noticed an issue on a Red Hook Silver Dollar that I don't know exactly what it might be.

The growth seems to be about the size of a small pea.

Water parameters are Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, and Nitrate 25ppm. Tank is a 240 with an FX5, 2 Marineland C-530, and a large sponge filter. I do 30-50% water changes weekly depending on my feeding schedule, as I fluctuate (and rotate) foods. I have added 4 cups of salt to this tank (diluted first) as a first step.

This tank has been stable with no issues and all fish that have been put into this tank have been quarantined for 30 days prior.

I'm looking for some help on diagnosis and cure as this is my show tank.

This was my initial thought but then I noticed a larger blood filled "vein" going from the tail body through the fin to the growth (you can see it in the pic). This just popped up overnight. I have never run into this in 30 years of fish keeping.

Thanks for the input. I will try this when I get home. Anyone else have any input?

I removed the growth:

It seems as though it is just a growth and not parasitic in nature. I'm doing a water change and adding salt again to see how the Red Hook recovers.

Good luck, sorry I can't be of help, never experienced this, or any sickness other than ich once every couple of years.
