red hook silver dollar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've had them grow from the size of a quarter, to around 6" in about a year. These fish were well fed, with good water conditions, in a large tank. I have also seen them in other people's tanks, where they grew much slower. I think it has to do with water quality, food, and space.

ah thanks i have been looking about but not found any info on the net .

From my experience, pretty fast.

Here is a pick of my old ones in June when I got them:

And here they are seven months after I got them:

They were absolute pigs. They ate everything, including silversides I was trying to feed to other fish. I got rid of them because they were such big, messy pigs.

mine eat everything, biggest growth spurt was a FD earthworms 2-3 times a day.. I'd say from 4" to 7"-8" in about 5 months..I love the nice large red freckles..they just finished munching down on fresh avacodo slices..

WTB a black bar if anyone knows where to source in the U.S.?

Whats the other species of silver dollars not the red hooks I have 3 red hooks and they have only grown about 2-3" in 3 months...but the other ones have grown a good 3" in only 2. Is there a difference their caudal fins are different too...

You mean black bars?, just about the same size.

I got my redhook about a month ago and it eats everything shrimp/flakes/algae wafers/bloodworms/cucumber/spinach/chiclid pellets/and feeders

Mine grew from 2" to 7" in 3 years. I have A breeding pair, The male Has more orange and red patches and a bigger hook in the lower fin. The female has a straighter lower fin and much less colouration on the cheeks
