Hello,

I have a trio of red hooks and a pair of spotted dollars in a 48"x12"x15" aquarium. All are fed a varied diet and the water quality is good but I am still a little confused as to how big the red hooks will get in my current setup. I have a fluval 4 internal and and IPF3 (transfered as part of the upgrade)

I have read that they can get between 6 and 8 inches depending on the amount of space given and this has concerned me that they will outgrow my aquarium

The lfs that I purchased the aquirum from assured me that it would be big enough.

I will try and post some photos of the aqurium in the next few days.

Max size is listed as 39 cm on some sites, thats well over a foot, that does not mean yours will get to that size, I am guessing in that aquarium in time to 9 or 10 inches.

Get a bigger tank. 12" width isnt good. They love to swim, and Boss Aquariums are well cheap. My biggest is ~6 inches after a year so you got a while to save up, lol.

As stated, they are a very active fish. I wouldn't feel comfortable keeping them in anything less than 6 ft.. That being said, it still doesn't mean a 55 is not do-able. Good luck.
