Can anyone tell me their experiences with Red Hooks. They look so cool. I guess they are a notch up on the Silver Dollar. Are they easy to care for and how big do they get?
as for care treat them just like a regular SD, the size I am not a 100% on but I think it ranges from 8-12"s. but from what I have found once they reach 6"s then they start to grow pretty slow.
Fishbase says up to 39 cm thats way over a foot long in habitat, in a big aquarium well cared for and well fed ........maybe..........close to that in time.
I had a group of 7 for a while. They grew very quickly. They will eat anything you put in the tank and are pretty messy. IMO they shouldn't be in anything less that a 6 foot tank. They are easy to care for. They do spook pretty easily with sudden movements, but they are out and pretty active most of the time.
Aye, SD's are awesome fish for cichlids, or just a display tank thats for sure. I've got two bleeding heart SD's right now, absolutely love them. Can't find any more though....
